73.5 911 Airbox options

I believe my airbox is beyond repair.
So far I have not been able to buy a new one as my uk OPC and another supplier both say that there is no stock and no plans to make any more.

I have been wondering if the later airbox as fitted in 74 to 77 would fit?
The later ones may have the internal metal spider which might be an advantage.
I can see that the top gasket has the same id as the 73.5 one but maybe the overall size is different?
The ports are obviously bigger but perhaps I can use reducing connectors down to the smaller pipes?

The alternative is to try to find an undamaged original 73.5 airbox which is problematic here.

Can you import one from the US? Our host appears to have them as do some of the competitors.

They initially used the same fuel distributor, throttle body and throttle position regulator, and I'm sure the metering plate would bolt right up.
While they changed the start valve and switched to aluminum intake runners, I would think the 1974 box should be easily adaptable.

Thank you both for your help.
It has now been patched and does not seem to be leaking any more although it looks a bit messy.

What did you use to patch it with ?

IMO replacing is a better choice, the engine will thank you.

I had to repair mine because though it was available for purchase, after 2 months they couldnt get the new airbox.
I believe the intake tubes are a different size and there may be other differences, worth a try, but buyer be ware of used ones that may have same problem. Good luck!

I don't see a problem with a 2.7 CIS air box on a '73.5.
I have 2 CIS systems. One is the original '73.5 by date code, air plate 0 438 120 002 May '73, fuel distributor 0 438 100 004 May '73.
The other I bought as a spare was installed on the sellers 1973.5, but '74 by dates, air plate 0 438 120 004 October '73, fuel distributor 0 438 100 004 Nov '73. So it seems at some point this was a replacement on the car. It had all the 73.5 runners, fuel lines and injectors and WUR.
Both air boxes are identical, and I think the only difference between years were the rubber sleeves to the runners. The one thing I haven't figured out is the date codes on the air boxes. Here are the ID's. Any one with ideas on the codes please post.

I purchased a new CIS airfilter box directly from Porsche in 2018. You can also purchase a new airbox from Rose Passion. But first I would ask Porsche. They're probably a bit cheaper than RP. I guess all CIS non-turbo airboxes are all the same part.

Be aware about the diameter of the intake runners of your car.

I may have an airbox available. I'm not sure what year it is for but I can check the part number if you check with me in about a week.
