Guidance on diagnosing
Hey all, I recently bought my first Porsche and it is a 1983 911SC. I've been driving it around town for about two weeks now and ran into my first problem. It was running fine this morning and I parked it in my garage. About 2 hours later I went to back out and it wouldn't run. Initially it started and the engine ran for about a minute, enough for me to turn the radio on and back out of the garage into the driveway. I tried restarting it thinking maybe i had stalled it and it would turn and start up for about a second and then turn off. I've gone back and tried a few times more over the last couple of hours with the same result. I'm not a super mechanic or anything so I'm looking for some advice on how to try and trouble shoot this. Please and thank you!

Fuel pimp red relay inthe front hood area. The rearmost red one. Swap it with one of the others. Pump fuse, 6th counting rear to front. Clean, tight, no burnt wires at the connectors. Unplug the cutoff relay, which is up next to the driver side hood hinge. Black, square box with a X on it and a white plug on the bottom. Take the air filter off, turn the key on and reach in and raise the curved metal arm a bit and you should feel a bit of pressure on it and hear the injectors whizz. Tells you that the fuel pump is working. Don't flood it.

CIS troubleshooting………….
Boone,
You need to test the FUEL PUMP and measure the fuel pressures (system, control, and residual). A pressure gauge kit is a mandatory tool for fuel injection troubleshooting. Without one, you leave too many unknown variables. Keep us posted. Tony |

as John W. mentioned start with the basics.Fuel pump fuse or corrosion on the terminals.Do you know of any alarm in your 911?
Also did you hear any back fire or sound puup? If you remove the air filter ,do you see on left inside what is called pup out valve(plastic clap)? That could get stuck if it is installed the wrong way-take picture and show us if you do have one.. After report here so we can help you Ivan
