AC belt removal?
I just started up the engine and fogot that I had a rag covering the engine so I could do some detailing. Guess what, start it up and the fan belt breaks! So, here goes:
1) How do I get the AC belt off without cutting it? 2) Can I drive 5-10 miles without the fan belt to purchase a #24 socket to replace the fan belt?

The general consensus is to not drive ANY distance at all with a broken fan belt since the head can get extremely hot, very quickly. Just move your compressor mount to remove the ac belt.

Buy two so you have a spare, the cars came with an extra as they are vital.

Do not, do not, do not, drive the car without the fan belt. A taxi to and from the local tool shop will be WAY less expensive than a new engine!

Check your tool kit in the trunk. You may have one as they came that way from the factory. It'll be old, but will probably get you to the store.

In case you do not have the tool, a 13mm socket on a 4" to 6" extension will do for loosening the compressor mounting bolts. Don't forget to unscrew the bolt on the right that tensions the a/c/ belt; otherwise you will not be able to slide the compressor to the left, to get the belt off.
