Houndstooth FAbric
I am messing around with some seat parts and am considering buying some rough seats and having the local trim guy insert houndstooth in the inserts. Heckuva time finding reasonable cost fabric that looks correct. Enter Ebay. A couple of auctions with a wool houndstooth, any ideas on whether this will hold up, or do i need a special wool/cotton blend for durabiility?

Eric Linden (Soterik) is the guy you probably want to talk to on this. I bought my seats from him. The houndstooth on mine is different from the original. It has a 'stiffer' feel than the material on my 73 with original houndstooth. However, it looks pretty close and appears to be more durable. Hopefully, Eric will chime in with the info you need. -- Curt

Eric was recently able to source some houndstooth material in Europe that matches the original, although he may be out of it by now. Autos International (see Panorama) uses some that is a very close but not an exact match, probably what was used on Curt's seats. Not sure if these are wool or a blend fabric.

I think I remember seeing an ad in Pano recently for some reproduction houndstooth material from an east coast source in the classifieds.

Every time I see a picture of Curt's interior I smile. It reminds me of what my 73 will become some day!

Chris,
I have been able to find some houndstooth that is close to the orginal. Not exact but close enough that not many people realize it. Had my recaro's redone in the fabric and it looks very authentic. Found this at "Jo-Anne" fabric here in the states. It was in the "rest" section. I still have the box it was wrapped on if you want the name and such. Check six JoeA

Interesting idea...anybody have pics of houndstooth done in the tan color? I was going to have my seats re-upholstered...I'd like to see what this idea would look like. Anyone know if houndstooth was available in '74 off the top of your head?
