Cheap(er) Sport Seats
I want sport seats in my SC but would love not to pay top dollar for a set of factory ones... does anyone make aftermarket sport seats to the same look and dimensions as the originals?

Something to consider: I refitted my '75 with some gently used Boxster seats from a wrecked Boxster. The seat rails only took minimum modification to bolt right in.

That's a pretty good solution! But I am still going for the original look...

Buy new covers and cut your own foam.

Agree that old Recaro LS seats are a similar feel to Sport Seats in terms of Bolster etc. Just the headrest is a bit different as it's not all 1 piece.
Some Recaro LSC's I had: ![]() |

The advice I got from several auto upholsters was to buy new seats as opposed to old ones. The cost to rebuild old seats would far outweigh getting something new.
I went with BF Torino Nurburgring R seats…. And had them recovered to my taste. All in it was under 4k.

There are a couple of companies selling the weld in bars and foam for sport seat conversions using your stock seats. If you can do that work and the new sport seat covers installation yourself it would be pretty cheap.
There are also companies that will do the conversion for you. |

Recaro LX/LS are fantastic - way more support and are more comfortable than the stock "comfort" seat. Reupholstered versions are roughly $750 a seat from Asian sources (check ebay). For new seats, BF Torino has nice stuff, and for bigger guys, Scheel-Mann's Traveler R. The biggest benefit of all these seats is you sit lower in the car compared to the stock seat. Total game changer.

Second the comment on modular Recaros. I have a set in my 911 and a set in my BMW E12. 80s seats are labeled LX/LS based on backrest bolster design and have A/B/C lower bolsters, and the top-end models with all the power controls have a couple of other names. Earlier seats that looks like LXes are labeled Idealsitz N. Newer ones of the same basic look have different names still. Whichever seat it is, it's great. They're a huge improvement over SC comfort seats.
