C2 oil filter revelation

i thought i would share a cure for a problem that,s been bugging me for a few years.
C2/C4 oil filter changes are generally a messy, drooling job. i would loosen the filter a bit and punch a hole in the outer edge, rotate the hole to the bottom, and collect the drainage in a cup of some sort, turn hole to top, drain cup, repeat, repeat, repeat, until most of the oil was out of the lines and filter to safely remove it without a whole lot of oil drooling onto the engine tin. you still had to swab up a smaller mess with several rags.
well, no more. i was looking at that hole, and i thought, why not use compressed air to blow all the oil into the tank! revelation! i left the tank drainplug off, put a pan underneath and blew for about a minute with a rubber tipped airgun. lots of oil came out of the tank drain. upon removing the filter, only a single drop came out of the threaded sleeve. none came out of the filter. why didn't i think of this back in '89? yippee!
by the way, the factory method of removing the bleed plug in the fenderwell doesn't work.

Good work John!, umph, would fitting the air nozzle into the dip stick tube have the same effect? Then you wouldn't need to punch any holes(reducing the chance of metal bits) and further flush the engine of old oil? just a thought.

Hmmm, do you have a Drierite filter in your air line? If not (or if it is old) your are blowing water mist into the engine -- it'll burn off when hot, but ...

i have a water trap to save the airtools, so i don't think that will be a problem. drain your compressor.
