cam timing setting
Looking for suggestions to set cam timing on a 3.0 with 964 cams and 9.5 JE pistons

I have 964 cams with stock pistons. Been running 1.25 mm but just recently advanced to 1.50. Engine not back in yet so can't offer much feedback on the change.

A while back when I was researching this subject I saved these threads. Maybe one you haven't seen yet.

The 964 factory setting is 1.26mm. But if you advance to 1.5 you tend to bring the peak torque a little earlier in the rpm range. The trade off is you will likely have lower top hp. The difference between the 2 settings is noticable, but neither is going to make you feel regret for not going the other way. Also, keep in mind you need to ensure adequate valve-piston clearance. However with your JE's in this case, I suspect you'll have plenty.
