Where is the 1973 24 Hours Daytona Winning Car
Looking at TED's Brumos car replica ( Pics of #59 street/track 911. ) got me thinking where is the 1973 24 Hours of Daytona winning Porsche 911 RSR?
I started to look on the net and came up with one site showing he raced serial number 911 360 0727 ( http://www.qv500.com/porsche91124p6.htm ) and another says serial number 911 360 0328 ( http://www.teamdan.com/archive/wsc/1973/73day.html ) was raced by Peter Gregg. Did he race 2 RSR's? And where is the Brumos car? Usually car's of this fame are at historic events but I have never seen it. TED did say it's tub may have been used for a later car...true or not? |

I read somewhere that the factory took back both the Penske and Brumos cars after that race. From there????

Here is an interesting site that lists the former Penske RSR for sale. Sure is a sorry looking car now. Interesting that they list the chasis number as 9113800307.

Here is an interesting link that has some history of the mentioned car with #0328 R4. Suposedly the last entry shows it was in an accident in Mexico.

Curiously, I had to check the data because the Brumos 911ST that was used to win the 1972 IMSA championship had almost the same story (without the detour back to Stuttgart). It was sold to Mexico where it was eventually crashed and disappeared. Some people believe that it was recovered and restored by Gunner (I think) and eventually appeared on the cover of Excellence (#87). Others dispute if it really is the '72 Championship car.

It would be a great Idea to have a website of Championship cars and their current owners/locations. Since it’s so hard to find hard data on them.
The only thing I keep getting on my searches for info on the famed BRUMOS #59 is on mini-models. |

one of the disputes on the 72 champ car is the current color scheme on it. Brumos did not run the red/white/blue on that car. i believe it was in the original ST orange
