Anyone Out There Need a 917K Frame??
Crazy stuff for sale out there sometimes - hope I need one of these someday! What's your guess on price?
Ad is here: http://www.elevenparts.com/cars_main.php Reads: Perfect new old stock Porsche 917 K chassis frame. NO chassis number. This was a spare frame (steel) that was never used. It was on display at Porsche for many years. Sample Pic: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploads/240-1.jpg Have Fun Andrew M |
Are those worth anything?? I have a couple in my attic. Free to a good home!! :D
Don't I wish!! |
I an not crazy about the color, but beggers can't be choosers, I 'll take two.
|
Those are at Pamona all the time for next to nothing.:D
|
Cannot think of what to do with it other than making a jungle gym out of it for my kid.
|
Cool, but of limited usefulness. Besides, making a replacement wouldn't cost too terribly much (compared to the million-dollar price tags on the cars)...

Finally! something to do with all those other 917 parts I've got lying around the house!
|
Now that's something I've never seen before.
Any ideas why some of the tubing is red? |
Exelent! I was wondering what to do with the flat 12 holding up the glass on my coffee table :-)

Could make a sex toy out of it....
|
Hey Baby, what do think of sex on the television?
It's ok but I prefer it on 917 tube frame! Grrrrrr........... Did I win, what's the count now? |
Red tubes double as the oil lines to the oil cooler up front. Look closely and you can see the fittiings in some pics.
|
Maybe not.
Fittings were routinely used in 908/917 frames to air- pressurize the frame...and see what the leakdown rate was. This would help determine if the frame was cracking. True enough....it may well be the oil routing to the front oil cooler. John Wyer, when he ran these cars, promptly went with dedicated rubber oil lines to gain better reliability and troubleshooting capability. ---Wil Ferch |
