Routing lines through tunnel and pedal box
 

We are putting back together a 1971 911T. Have a few questions about what went where. Can't seem to identify what goes in both of the tubes under the dash that run through the tunnel. Have looked at several photos but none seem to be the same as this car. I believe one is for the speedometer?

As for the corresponding holes in the rear, they come out on the far left.

Also, curious about routing the lines from the fuel tank through the firewall. Looking at an earlier car there was a recessed, stamped panel that had holes to accommodate. The car received some new sheet metal in that area so wondering if we just need to make holes or if there is a panel missing that needs to be added?

One on left is brake vacuum tube.

His 71 is pre brake booster assist. They didn't implement routing for the brake vacuum line until 76 chassis I believe.

I think what you are looking at is mechanical speedo routing and fuel vapor line that leads to the charcoal canister next to the oil tank in the back. So the tube coming off the tunnel in the back is the charcoal line hookup. Here's a great thread with illustrations

I think the top one in the back is the charcoal, and the other tube extending is the left side hand brake. FYI if it isn't obvious, you need 4 new tunnel fuel line grommets, as the it looks like they painted over the old ones.

Thanks guys, I've come across that thread but unfortunately the green car only appears to have 6 holes to the left, whereas mine has 8. Also the green car has 1 tube by the pedal cluster and mine has two. I believe one is for the speedo. If the other is for a fuel vapor line, it goes from the tank to inside the cabin and then all the way through that sleeve out the back?

Any insights into how to drill the front brake lines into the tunnel are appreciated. So far I've only seen sealer slopped around the lines after they are installed. I haven't come across a photo before the sealer to know what's underneath.

I have been looking through factory manual but no such luck yet.
