Tuthill Porsche 911k - 11K RPM Air Cooled

I just saw the video on the Tuthill Porsche 911K - which has an air-cooled engine with 11K RPM limit. Anyone know the technical details of the engine?

Video -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AndH7Xm3ds0

Web Site -- https://www.tuthillporsche.com/tuthill-porsche-launch-the-lightweight-911k/

They sell some of the parts (including Carbon Fiber Fuchs) but no engine details.

Pretty wild car with that weight and engine.

I was just watching the video earlier. It's insane. 800 something kilos. I actually wouldn't mind a lightened long hood with regular a 3.2 and a G50...

Wait...what?

11k 3.1L with 4 valves per cylinder and no water cooling? Does Tuthill make their own cylinder heads?

Watched this morning in awe. Watched again this afternoon to soak in the details. Tuthill has always built hardcore cars but this one goes to eleven. It’s bonkers and I love it.

I'd love to know more about the heads. Or is it head? ie, a 1 piece head with dohc (one head for each bank though).
Chain drive?

Fantastic sounds in this video......
I wanted to see.....hear more about the engine.
How do you build a flat 6 that will hold together at 11000 rpm?
350hp doesn't sound like much until you realize the car only weighs 1900lbs.
He says they will build a few and sell them for less than 1 million ea.....
Great idea and video.

Very impressive. I've never heard a 911 engine turning 11k. That's quite a sound.

I visited Tuthill in June, it's a gorgeous operation that is growing rapidly. Got to see and touch one of the 911K body shells on a dolly, didn't take pics unfortunately, thought it might be rude, turns out I could have. Maybe next time.

A few pics from the afternoon. That is Peter Gregg's car. And so much more there.

Curious if the driving between maintenance is measured in miles or hours, on this one.

My limited understanding is that heat has been the issue for a DOHC. The 959 did it (and some earlier race motors) and guess what guys, you too can buy a 959 head for the low price of just $27,752.29 per head. Of course, the 959 solved the heat issue by having water cooled heads.

I seem to recall a N/A non water cooled dohc once piece head that was being adapted for 3.0, 3.2 motors which are IMHO the sweet spot for n/a aircooled porsche motors. It was a shop out of Germany that posted a render online.

Here's an old MFI 3 valve dohc motor that Wayne posted

I’m really interested to find out more about the engine and how they have got it to hold together at 11k. Maybe we can take some lessons and build an air cooled flat 6 that will live safely at 9k on a budget.

I would guess if that engine will comfortably hold together at 11,000 RPM, then its limit is considerably higher , possibly as high as 15,000 RPM before it detonates eventually!
A real masterpiece of engineering either way!
