Opinions appreciated

Ok, i've read all (or at least most) of the previous posts on opinions of motor meister and their "craftsmanship". My question pertains to their engine rebuild kits with seals and all the other appropriate hardware things. There price on that stuff is pretty competitive, anyone use their materials in there rebuilds? Good quality oem stuff or knock off crap? I was just curious, felt like reading through as to why they are the demon gods of porsches. But in doing so this question popped up in my head and i was curious.

Cool

I got my kit from Competition Engineering.. they substitute better parts for any routine weak ones.. I didn't even check the prices against others.. they are competitive in profile.. so I just wanted the best shot for my re-build.............Ron

I got my kit from them, haven't built the motor yet so I can't comment on that. I can give you the name brands though. The gaskets are Victor Reinz, the pistons are Ross, the bearings are Federal Mogul and the Chains are made by some german company. The text is all in german so I don't know which says "chains" and which says the name of the company.

I second Ron's suggestion. Top end kit ~$180 from CE. Walt uses the best german gaskets/rubber.

I'm just curious cause pretty soon i'm going to need a lot of gaskets, seals, and hardware. I'm the type of person who likes to get a rough idea of the strategy before heading into war if you know what i mean. Is there a website for places that have this stuff, like competition engineering and others? (Sorry wayne, i'm a capitalist so i have to check for the hell of it)

I understand, but i'm not ingorant, i've heard of MM reputation multiple times. Besides, if i were to replace those things, mahle cylinders (98mm bore) and some je pistons (8.5:1 comp). Raceware studs all around, ported heads for turbo charging and 964 cams, garret t4 hybrid, twin plug, tec 3, and front mounted elephant racing oil cooler. Be a mean little street car, oh but wait, i have a budget (damn that budget). Sorry for being snappy, the Nets have been pissing me off lately, although they did barely win last night.

wayne's new engine rebuilder wizard should get you the package you need...

wayne's prices are competative...if you find grossly different prices you can always try to email Pelican and see if they will match...especially if you are making a big order...plus it saves you the hassle of using 12 different suppliers...and losing all the savings you think you are getting on shipping and scattered customer service...

wayne is obsessive about using the best parts too. he uses com engineering for machine work and is so compulsive he uses some of his satillite "clean room" mentality...ex. the bio/engineering KIMWIPES...get his new book, use his new wizard...I doubt you'll be disappointed

that is my suggestion

I got halfway through a scathing response and just wiped it. Too tired for fighting today. Yes, was trying to be helpful. Sorry, won't happen again.

Oh, and again, sorry for the reply dtw, i'm sure your reply was helpful to hemi's soon to come catastrophic failure due to underengineered pistons. But again, i didn't notice his post, so i ignorantly assumed you were talking to me, and i appologize. Rock on gentlemen!

Ross pistons are a very well known company. If you like to do a net search try doing it under "Ross Racing Pistons", I didn't give the full name because I thought everyone had heard of them. there are companies besides JE out there you know.
Actually I take that back, "Ross Pistons" works just as well as an internet search, what was your point again?
