1973 rear side bumper tabs help
On the attached photo I'm looking for the tab (circled in yellow) on the top half of the rear side bumper mounting location. The bottom tab comes on the bumper, my question is the top tab, did the factory mount this to the fender or can you fabricate one or hopefully buy one to be used as kind of a compression to the lip on the bottom of the fender? My fender does not have a tab welded to the fender so I'm trying to figure it. I'd add a picture of my rear fender but the car is not here right now. Hopefully this makes sense?
This picture came from Jonny042 build... hope that is okay to use. ![]() |

They came spot welded to the upper fender but you can fabricate one and pop rivet it onto the top of the upper lip. This will allow you to align the lower and upper parts, and squeeze the rubber trim piece that separates them. The rubber will hide the rivets if you do it right.

Perfect and thank you for the insight. Sometimes you just hit a wall with ideas…I do quite a bit. Really appreciate it. Joe. |
