Question Simple Sunroof Question

Should the felt on my '74 911 sunroof run all the way around the sunroof perimeter, or is it attached to the roof itself? I don't know how/where to re-attach.

Can someone look at their car and tell me?

the long felt seal should run around the front and sides, the back one (shorter of the two) should be attached to the rear of the sunroof. i found that where the two felties meet it was kinda sano (clean) to remove an inch or so of the nylon inners from each end. this helps the two ends seat when the roof is closed, the nylon inner will not fold twice and tuck in nice like.

Just to make sure I understand: The long piece attaches to the body (front and sides), only the short piece goes on the sunroof (on the back end).
Is that right?

That is correct Make sure you get all the old adhesive off of your panels before installing the new ones.

Good luck,

Jeff

Your going to need a good adhesive also. The contact cement seems iffy, 3M weatherstripping glue will probably work better.

Don't a lot of the weatherstripping adhesives say not ot use on finished paint surface? I have a generic yellow weatherstrip adhesive that bubbles my paint like brake fluid. Does 3M do that also?

I just did the front seal a few weeks ago (bought from pelican).
I used 3M black weatherstrip adhesive (my car is black).
Took about 5 minutes, turned out fine.
I still have to do the rear seal but I'm waiting until I do the headliner.

I bought a custom brown headliner almost a year ago but I've been putting it off, one of these days. After reading Wayne's description of the job I'm not loking forward to it.
