June North-Texas Pelican Gathering and BBQ
Hi all,
This month’s gathering will be held at my house on Saturday June 14th starting at 9AM (or so). The plan include to drop the engine and transmission to be able to fix as many oil leaks as possible without removing the heads or splitting the case, including (but not limited to) #8 and flywheel seals, oil return tubes, general engine cleaning (and painting), install stainless steel air box, engine bay cleaning and now I will also replace all the fuel and vacuum lines... maybe even the upgrade to Carrera Chain Tensioners (budget permitting). On Friday I will be emptying the oil and transmission fluids plus removing the rear valance to make the drop easier. If I have the time to setup the software I will be installing a web cam to record (and broadcast?) the event for future references. At around 1PM the BBQ should be ready. While latex and nitrile gloves will be provided BYOG (bring your own gloves), variety of soft drinks, water and beer will be also available but feel free to BYOB (bring your own booze). My address is: 4508 Breckinridge Blvd Richardson TX 75082 Yahoo map --> http://maps.yahoo.com/py/maps.py?Pyt=Tmap&ed=F11oeOp_0TrsUh5DyXEZSWKGnWIwgp7BYi8kwQXCM.eEYbl cdB4dF1HjGsg6AksHomO7&csz=75082&country=us Mapquest map --> http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?country=US&addtohistory=&address=4508+Breckinridge+Blvd&city=Richardson&state=TX&zipcode=75082&homesubmit=Get+Map I will need to rent or borrow from one of you a Porsche engine yoke/stand and any other specialty tool that you may think will be needed. If you have any large fan and/or an ez-up will be also appreciated, my garage gets full sun until around 4PM, so will be hot!! Let me know if you will make it (also to the BBQ) to jriera3@attbi.com or by responding to this post. See you next Saturday.

Jordi,
I plan on being there around 10 or so and will be able to stay until 1 or 2. Do you have Speedvision? F1 qualifying from Canada will be on at noon. If you have time on Friday night, try to disconnect as many of the electrical and oil connections as possible so that we can do more work in the AM.

Thanks for all the people that have already replied to the post or via private email.
The storm from last night 'disabled' my satellite antena so the viewing of the F1 qualifying is questionable at best.. but I will have the new remake of the Le Mans DVD... and a 120" screen.. So far I have done: move the car to his final 'resting' position, chock the front wheels, disconnect the battery, first gear on, remove the shift coupler, drain oil (sump and tank), drain transmission, color code the hoses, PB Blaster on the 36mm oil line, take pictures of everything, some more PB Blaster on the 36mm oil line. I plan to remove the rear bumper today or tomorrow. More to follow.

Jordi,
Is it just a question of pointing the satellite in the correct direction or did lightning fry the box? I can repoint it, but can't do anything about lightning damage. See you around 10. Don't forget to disconnect the transmission shift coupler as well as any other wires connected to the car. Sooner we get it out, the sooner we can get started on the leaks.

Thanks Neil, looks like one of the LNB's and the signal distributor are fried...
Transmission coupler is out already, will do my best to unplug as many things as possible today and tomorrow.

I'm going to try to come for a bit, but can't make any promises. As I think I told you, that's my birthday and my wife has some stuff planned. Looks like you'll have a break (somewhat) on the heat!
