Rennsport Reunion VII 2023

I am super excited that PCNA has announced that RRVII will be held at Weather Tech speedway in September 2023, this will be there 75th anniversary and should be the biggest and best one yet.

I hope they are going to invite the Porsche Tractors back again as i have had plans since 2018 when i ran the Alegra Motorsports JR. in the tractor race to go back with my 329 super with a very cool surprise i want to share with Pelican and Porsche community.

It cant get here quick enough and i hope to see and meet some of you there.
Richard

The ticket website is straight trash. Took me three hours to get a corral pass.

How about 6-7 hours, including two waits for phone assistance, the first one of which didn't work. We would go through the steps, once even got to where we saw our "cart" with some issues (multiple tickets apparently ordered), edited and seemed to have fixed that, but the expected instruction to pay now or next or the like never appeared. Whoever programmed this should be taken out and shot.

Though eventually they took our money, and I printed our tickets. The rest should come in the mail. I hope.

Tix website: 10th Circle of Hell that Dante never warned us about

The ticket website opened early for PCA members, what an absolutely CRAP experience: pages freezing, error messages "event is unavailable due to heavy demand" - they sold 40,000 last time and there are 140,000+ PCA members - did they think they were going to get 6 or 7 interested buyers today?

I have a strong suspicion that this was mostly out of PCA's hands since they generally seem well run and organized. From what I can tell the website Tix.com is contracted by Laguna Seca. I really hate to wish this on anyone, but whoever did the capacity planning / testing and UAT at Tix.com really should be out of a job - I can't imagine they are happy in their work anyway as the lack of pride of craft is glaringly obvious.

Took me well over 2 hours to get a ticket for general admission, paddock for 993, and corral (whatever that is). One of the most frustrating online experiences of my entire life, and that is saying something.

Oh, and there's also a "Legends Club” VIP package for an eye watering $600 per adult, which includes food & wine... better be supplying Dom Perignon for subscribers to wash down their caviar, lobster, foie gras, and beer-fed hand massaged Kobe beef directly imported from Japan. Interestingly, the VIP package includes admission and paddock parking – if you buy at least 3 tickets… because yeah everyone with a 2-seater Porsche is somehow going to bring 3 people. Makes absolutely zero sense. Also, the info says Sept 28 – Oct 1 (4 days) vs description that says “3 day admission”, so it’s only for 3 days, unless it’s for 4 days, glad we clarified that one.

Anyway I am confident that when we hit the ground PCA will have it all well organized and running smoothly, and that PCNA will likewise have their part running like the assembly line at Stuttgart.

Massive cocjup. I've had easier times getting concert tickets when you waited in-line at Tower Records.

The biggest craap part of this was there was no page explaining what the packages included. What is included in the Legends package that makes it worth more coin than the standard 4 day corral and paddock pass?? You'd never know if your incessant mouse clicks didnt get magically rewarded with an entry to the kingdom.

Utter scheisse.

So it turns out that PCNA is inviting the tractors back which I am glad to hear but disappointed that they play favorites with PCA. I have been in touch with Ellen Bireley who coordinates the tractor race for PCNA and was told yesterday that tickets would go on sale the 28 and tractor registration is not till October. I wanted to get a paddock pass for the 993 but seeing the crap show that has unfolded with the early preferential ticket sales it does not look like that will happen.

If the tractor entry criteria is the same as RRVI then the entry fee includes two paddock tickets and parking up on the hill so I hope to see and meet some of you there.

Update to my previous horrific experience - I am now happy again!

I was just about to order a non-parking GA/Paddock ticket for my wife (available under her PCA number) when she informed me that she wanted the VIP experience with the shaded parking, catered food, wine and beer, private toilets, backrubs, mani/pedicures, attendants fanning you with giant ostrich feathers etc etc.

Since my first ticket was non-refundable, I called the Laguna Seca customer service number, expecting the worst in terms of wait time. However, I was the 5th caller and got through in less than 10 minutes, spoke with an extremely helpful and pleasant customer service rep who very efficiently did the upgrade for us and answered some questions about the event as I'm a first timer.

A vastly different experience! The Laguna Seca customer service rep needs to be promoted, and the Tix programmer needs to... find an alternate livelihood.

Add me to the list of frustrated customers, what a mess. If it wasn’t for the fact that coral parking goes quick I would have waited but instead had to endure 3 hours of yellow dots and unavailable messages.

I did reach out to PCA and they confirmed that they had no involvement in the online ordering.

Instead of being excited to sign up for what should be an amazing event I was instead annoyed and frustrated.
