http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1696715562.jpg I am starting in on this "In Need of Attention" 72 T. I plan on making it my own. The paint is haggard and the interior needs attention. I'm not going to give every detail I plan today. I'll just mull along and figure stuff out as I go. Paint will be happening pretty soon. |
Day #1
Glass, Exterior Trim, Front Bumper all removed. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1696720030.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1696720030.jpg I'm looking for an S bumper if anyone has one laying around. |
Oh buddy.
Keeping the original color? |
^
For sure Chris. Not my favorite but it's original to the car. |

I can't wait to see where you take this project. |
I'm building a parts list.....
Once it leaves paint I'll do the headliner and measure for wheel offset. I'm planning on running a 205/55/16 in front and a 225/50/16 in the rear both on 7's. |
|
I think it looks great! Really "pops" ..Hopefully it grows on you! Be sure to keep us up to date on your progress!

Will do Matt......
Currently welding up the cut off tabs of the front bumper.... Not sure why the PO cut these off...but at least he did it neatly. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1697845476.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1697845476.jpg |
Bahama or Signal? It's hard to tell what with pictures on the internet and everything. Either way, I really like your car, even if it's not your favorite color.
I like your approach as well - "I'll just mull along and figure stuff out as I go". I've been doing that for over 20 years on my '72. If someone had asked me 20 years ago, I would not have described what I have today. Just see where it takes you... |
Jeff it's Bahama but I can't tell the difference between the two on the internet.
Maybe someday I'll see the colors next to each other.... |
Looks like another fun project. Will enjoy following along.

The color laid down perfectly and I am more than please with the results from Sunday's efforts. I'm not going to show everything I am doing and I just can not document and work. However a few gratuitous shots along the way............
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1698766506.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1698766506.jpg Signal Yellow......... This has not been cut or buffed.......yet. |
While waiting for parts and other stuff..... I started in on the interior. Instead of rebuilding both seats from scratch I purchased a set from Classic Touring Seats. I dismantled the center insert portion. The insert was remade using woven leather I ordered.
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1700588815.jpg I also cut the headrest down to a reasonable size. Same thing I did on my 88. The rear deck was rebuilt from scratch ( it was pretty beat up) and covered in leather. Rear seat back delete shown using the same woven leather. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1700588951.jpg Having done a car already I learned a lot. In some cases i'll go backwards from what I did before. |
I have lined up some outstanding help on Friday and Saturday. Planning to get the glass installed and the suspension finished up.

It's way too early for a glamor anything. LOL !!! If I stay on schedule it will be at the dry ice blaster by Monday afternoon. I'm going to get the wheel wells and belly cleaned up. I don't have the luxury of Covid to spend cleaning as I did before. I'm just going to pony up and have it done by a professional. |
That's a great color and I like where you're going with the interior so far.
Doing anything special with the engine, trans, or suspension? |
