Door Alignment
Hi all,
How can I fix this alignment problem? Is there a way to move "forward" the driver door. I've always left the driver door in this way because some body shop guys told me they can't fix this. I suppose someone has tryed to move the car pulling the door. Please help. ![]() ![]() ![]()

A Porsche specific shop should be able to help you out, combination of fender and door tweaking.

No, top hinge seems to have no shims, I can only see a shim in the lower. (red arrow). TOP HINGE ![]() LOWER HINGE ![]() Also, on the door side of the hinges I see three rounded bolts (jellow circles). Are those bolts welded or can be they used to adjust the door (from the inner of the door)? ![]()

looks like the body shop who did the paint job or before tried to compensate for the gap so the door would be strait.
No,the rivets on the door cannot be removed. The only thing i can think of is the trim the upper hinge on the side where it meets the body.... The frame can be adjusted inside the door... There could be here some body-work man who knows some other trick? Ivan

thank you for your suggestion proporsche... your comments are always appreciated!!
i was taughting about your idea but, don't I risk to make the hinge weaker? |

It looks like the “A”pillar may be slightly back as a result of front left impact.
Would need to be pulled forward on a Celette. For a very slight improvement the factory workshop manual suggests removing the door and beating the hinge with a bfh and block of hardwood.Seems rather brutal but that is apparently what was done in production back in the day to correct the alignment of the door when it needed to be moved forward but I think any movement like that would be only maybe 1mm or less. |

well, if you combine what Keith said and shave of 2 mm on the upper hinge i would not worry about the structure at all..
