Weird date stamp on 16 X 6 Fuchs

Hello all,

I'm getting ready to sell a set of 4 of these wheels and am confused by the date stamp showing 676. I would have assumed that these wheels would have been starting production sometime in late '77 for the SC?
Any ideas?

Thanks! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1697500247.jpg

Could it be 679 but the last digit is upside down? 16x6 weren't available like you said until MY78 SC

Hmmm, that's a thought.... I have 2 of them stamped exactly like this, maybe it was one of those friday afternoon (a couple of schnapps in) mistakes.

Interesting, there is currently a set of 7x16 951 Fuchs that supposedly have 1984 date codes. The 951 Fuchs were for the 1986 944 Turbo.

76-77 Carrera Turbo had a 6x16. Maybe staggered set with 7’s on rear ?

Now that's interesting.... I did not know that the '76 Turbo had 16's. I'll bet that this is the answer then.
I'll check later and see if that is the part number and report back.

I have a photo but it's a bit blurry. Doesn't look like that part numbger though.....

A turbo wouldn't have 6in wheels

EC900 10-20-2023 08:33 AM

Weird indeed. Sorry about misinfo. Checked 1977 owners manual the 930 would have had 7’s x16 F 8’s in R. But stranger things can happen like those 14” comfort group option on the 911S.

@tpick - Did you check measurements ? In the coin numismatic world, an mis-stamp/strike is a valuable and rare commodity. Your # is 911.367.020.43 with the 43 being a latter version designation.
The 6J looks odd but don’t think it can be an 8.

Numbers are not corresponding to 1977 PET but according to the 6/76 date code best to check 1976 PET productions.

All my reference material says the 77 was the first year the Turbo Carrera came with 16's.

From the 76/77 spec book, 1977 Carrera.

The book splits them, as it should since the specs changed. ‘76 from the previous pages. 76 was 15s. The page I previously posted is 77 only, which is what OPs wheels are.

I thought the same thing, but here's the facts in the Ryan Snodgrass book - broken down correctly.
Thanks for playing....

Why so snarky? It’s not a competition. All I care about is helping the OP find the right answer.

Because Ryan’s book supersedes the factory’s own spec books?

Your first picture is a brochure for Turbo Carrera. Spec book I posted says Carrera 3.0 had 6. Turbo is 7.

What’s your follow up picture? That appears to still be for a turbo?
