Brake light function
I want to wire in a new 3rd brake light does stepping on the brake send power to the black / yellow wire or does it connect the ground?

Sends power to the brake light. The outside of the brake light socket is grounded.

Yes, it appears to be the black/yellow wire. We have a pretty handy DIY article on installing a 3rd brake light which mentions where the best place is to splice one in. Hope this helps!
