JMO but none of those colors in the pics appeals to me.

I’m not sure that the exterior color choice can be made divorced from the interior. Is the cabin going to be all black or colored, leather or fabric? Textured or smooth?
Given that all your color choices are understated I would be curious about your intention; do you want this car to disappear, is is about the wild and luxurious interior, are you trying to “murder” out the car? If you can share your overarching vision for the car then we can better assess the color choice within that rubric. Right now it’s a palate of dark neutrals without context. |
I'm not keen on any of those. If you are looking for a dark color, why not Aga Blue. It's period correct for 67 and a very interesting blue with a lot of character.

Sidneysora,
What ever you choose don't limit your self to just Porsche colors. Try this site https://paintref.com/ enter a color name into the search and away you go. Also get some rattle cans made up and see how they look in the actual color in the sun light. Spending a 100 on rattle cans is better than spending 1000"s on a color that doesn't work like you thought. JMO, Good luck. Here's what I cam up with for my 1966 RS ish car. 1959 Dodge Arctic Blue and good old GM Hugger orange and GM classic white Joe D http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1700324560.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1700324599.jpg |
Slate grey ( especially if this is the original color) matched with a red interior and chrome trim is period correct and stunning in my opinion

That said, when you build a hot rod, you build it to your own vision and not to be “correct” ,so do what you like. |
My other car in House of Kolor’s Tangelo Orange stops people in their tracks. I saw it on a Lamborghini and had to go with it for my own build after that.

Thank you guys very much for the comments,
Just out of curiosity —— actually how you guys like the slate grey? I remember somewhere I seen a photo of the original R wearing slate grey, it’s always like a errrr I don’t know color for me. I do think slates a little boring especially I’ve deuces to keep the original interior, which is black with aluminum dash. Do we got more ideas about the color choice? Really love to hear more thoughts before the body work is all finished. maybe a yellow tone can brighten things up a bit? |

As a big Vic Elford and Bjorn Valdegard fan, if it were my car, I would seriously consider doing it red like the 68 T/R rally cars. More of a sport purposes build than original R.
|
We picked up our white car, above, yesterday. Wife was running drag or a 'flagging' car in the 1 ton. Decent separation and at or above speed limits. I was almost side swiped twice. If it had been a grey car in the winter NW not so good. Personally I like the tangerine too but that's what my 914 was.

Aga Blue all day long! Beautiful color. :)
