dizzy movement???

On a 77 911S dizzy, how much shaft play up and down is tollerable? I have zero side-to-side, but up and down there is at least .030". The reason I ask; I have a miss all the way thru the rpm range, but it gets worse when hot and is most profound from2700-3500 rpm's. I have checked the CIS pretty thoroughly, I am thinking ignition????

Luke

I have a good .25" up and down and It's never caused any ignition problems.

I got rid of the points. I use the crane optical trigger. before that I used the petronix ignitor both have worked great.

how do your points look?

how does the exhaust look when the miss is at it's worst?

when it's dark do your plug wires give you a light show?

how do the plugs, cap, rotor look?

how many miles on your fuel filter and air filter?

Alan, I have replaced the cap, rotor, plugs, wires, points-38 degrees dwell, fuel filter, checked my fuel system pressure 73 psi, running pressure 45 psi, I have sprayed for air leaks-no avail, but not convinced totally, the idle is adjustable-so that makes me think no air leak??? My leakdown percentages=95-96%, I have ran a bottle of expensive fuel injection cleaner thru it. The plugs look lean to me, very light to white no light golden brown. My CO is @3.5%. Valve adjust is spot on. I am lost........and frustrated........Luke
