935 Style back to turbo width
Hello everyone, I recently fulfilled a long dream and bought my first 911, a '77 2.7L 911 Coupe with 165hp.
It was converted in the eighties with a fiberglass kit from the manufacturer "Niehoff" (see photos of the current condition). I would now like to partially convert it to an IROC style (turbo-wide). I would prefer to build the two rear fenders in sheet metal turbo wide, but I think that there is too little original sheet metal there, and the side parts at the rear are shortened too far at the top for normal sheet metal extensions to be welded in. 2 new sheet metal side panels in turbo width are too expensive for me. My current idea would therefore be to cut out the fiberglass parts and fit new turbo-look fiberglass parts. Does this work well and what is the best way to attach them? Body adhesive, rivets, and filling? Thanks in advance everybody! Best regards Philipp ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Philipp, welcome aboard!
Back in the 90's I purchased a euro-spec SC Targa with the exact body kit. I thought the kit was by Folger. However, I would not change it at all, it's beautiful... and odd cars are hot! I would spend the money on a bigger/performance engine! Can you share interior shots?

Welcome to the forum! And cool car!
I'd tend to agree on leaving it as is. But if you'd set on widening the rear, it may be an option to get fiberglass flare extensions and trim as needed to suit your application. |

I was a bit thrown off by your question because It looks to me like it already has turbo width flares. Am I wrong? I think it may be the vents and side skirts that make them less exagerated. I know the iroc flares have a different pofile but I thought the width was the same

Sweet car! Drive it before you take it apart. Another vote for spending your money on a ready to go 3.2 or 3.6 if you can manage.
