Introduction and question on tail light

Hi,
I'm new to this board (been reading it for a couple of weeks now). I just got my first 1988 Porsche 911 Carrera a month ago. It was rather an impulsive buy (1 week from idea to buy ) so no PPI and me not knowing what i bought exactly. Anyways i love the car, but the previous owner(s) did manage to mess a few things up i'm afraid. After being to the garage twice for a tune up and a lock repair i was 1500 euro's (about $1750) lighter. So i decided to become a weekend mechanic (never worked on cars before) and start with the simples.
I bought 101 projects and made my first order from Pelican (including more books).

Now for my question:
Everytime i turn on the lights the fuse to my tail lights blows. So no tail lights at all. Brake lights and all others in the rear work perfectly fine. After doing a search in the archives i decided tot clean everything first. So i want to take the tail light housing out.
How do i do that????
i tried to take out the two screws in the housing, but the one on the outside is stuck (screw head was allready allmost gone) and the one closest to the enginge compartment is allmost unreachable. Can anyone give me some pointers to take the housing out?

Sorry for the long post and my ignorance, and thanks for your time.

Hmm..

It was the same problem with my screws when I bought mine, I drilled it out but be careful and make sure itīs in the center of the screw when drilling.

I wonder what kind of materia it is in thoose screws, to easy to destroy the head on it...

Good Luck if you start drilling...

Jocke,

I drilled the buggers out. Thanks for the tip. Cleaned the whole thing inside and out. There were a couple of bad wires. Fixed that and I got tail lights again.

I can drive at night again

BTW, this was my first little 911 project. How little things can make you proud.

Thx,
Rodney

Welcome

I am sure that you, as I did, will learn a lot from the people who
visit this board. Most are very helpful and the amount of knowledge is unbelievable. Love your country, have had some
wonderful times in Rotterdam, Amsterdam and Utreck (sp?).
