Holt Motorsports
Has anybody had experience (good/bad) with Holt Motorsports?
I need to buy a second 993 and they prove to be quite difficult to find. Holt has a few to chose from.... |

I bought a car from Tim Holt a few years ago, no complaints. I think he is a well respected guy and he does have a great selection of 993's right now. I check his inventory out from time to time (I'm right around the corner) and he seems to always have nice, clean cars. Being a dealer though, prices can be on the high side, but he owns everything outright, no consignment cars, so I would think there is room to negotiate..

The girls (now 2 and 4) don't need a stroller anymore. My wife is ready to sell the Cayenne and likes the 993 and 911 Carreras. I think that as a daily driver with ABS, power steering, airbags and a working AC the 993 is ultimately the better car. And you can't have too many 993s can u? |

And I am not prepared to spend $60k for a low mileage one (it will be a daily driver) or a C2/4S (overpriced in my opinion for what they are). So I realize that Holt might be a couple of grands more expensive than a private seller but I think it's worth the peace of mind of a good car and the readily avaliable stock. I've been over there several times to look at a few cars. A good friend bought his 993 from Tim - it was a higher mile > 90,000 - it had a limited slip, sport suspension, sport seats - I think he paid $32,000. Tim seems very straight forward and honest, I'd buy off of him.

I have not bought from him but I was looking for a cam gear pin some time back. He took the time to look in his spare parts and called me back. He is also willing to give advice if you ask and is respected in this area.

In 2001 we purchased a 1987 911 Carrera with 32,000 miles from him. He stated the car was in excellent condition and needed nothing. Once the car was at the house, we removed the "Holt Motorsports" front vanity plate and discovered a large dent in the front valance. We approached Tim about it and he had the valance sent to a paintless dent repair shop. He was very friendly but had we not removed the vanity plate we would never have found the large dent. We would buy from him again because he made it right in the end.

I concur, a well thought-of guy indeed…!
(the price point is on the high end but so are the p-cars in his inventory)

I was very close to buying a car from Holt until a car from a collector came available nearby. From my visit to his shop, I thought the cars seemed very clean and the shop honest. There were actually two cars I looked at on a private sale basis in very nice shape that ended up there. If I had not found the car nearby, I would have bought from them.

We eventually got a car from Marshall Goldman in Cleveland OH.
We bought a 20k miles 993. It looks like a concourse car. I feel sad for the previous owner because he/she saved the car dor us... ![]() But I spoke at lenght with Tim Holt ans he was a very very nice guy and we were just about to fly up to Philly to buy one of his cars... |

I spent some time at Holt's a few years ago when a friend was looking for a 993. They had a decent selection, but their prices were a bit high. Of course, you can expect that from a dealer, to a degree.
If anyone is looking for a very clean low mileage 993, I have a friend selling. PM me for details.

I bought an '88 coupe from Holt back in February. I flew out there from Denver to see it in person first. He's built his business around selling top-quality, low mileage original examples of aircooled cars, and they are priced accordingly. We talked for quite a while, and he said most of his pre-964 cars are being sold to German dealers who fly over, walk into his place and buy 3-4 cars at a time. As a result, his prices may not be as negotiable as they once were. Not sure if that applies to 993s, however. He also bemoaned the fact that the supply of good, low mileage SCs and pre-89 Carreras is almost gone and he's having a very difficult time replenishing his inventory. He said he might have to start selling Boxsters and water-cooled 911s. I've noticed he does have 997s for sale occasionally.
He seemed very honest with me, a no-nonsense type. His inventory was indeed top quality from what I saw. He has more cars than are shown on his web site. |

Where do all of these 20+ year old cars come from with under 40,000 miles? Very nice collection. I am curious how one person obtains these. Keep in mind, this is not a collector but a dealer who wants to move cars. There must be a consistent supply. T What is the source? I don't think these cars typically go through auction. Just curious.

I just bought something (not a car) from them. Tim Jr. seems like a stand up guy.
