GAME CHANGER. Porsche Chassis Dolly Build.

How did I live without this for so long?

I posted a video today building a chassis dolly for this 1976 912, which is high enough to accommodate an engine install without jacking up the car at all.

Great video Michael, watched it on my train commute this morning.

Very inspiring, can't wait to see this second EZ30 swap in!

Yup. I have done the same thing with both of my restorations.....only recommendation I make is to ensure that your wheels fully caster, have locks on at least one pair and are weight rated for the chassis at its heaviest point (almost ready to put back on the ground).

I basically tuck mine into a corner when I am not working on it...roll it into the middle of the garage when I am.

Best of all worlds..

D.

We have 3 we have built. Two for aircooled chassis and one for watercooled.

I've always wondered why folks haven't used Unistrut products to build frames. Unistrut offers a whole slew of premanufactured products, connectors, etc. to build frames of pretty much any configuration that can be made to be adjustable and without welding. Take a look at one of their catalogs.

I have never heard of it until you just posted.

In our case, we could easily build them and weld them.... Then 100% solid, no shipping costs and very easy to customize to the chassis.....

Cheers

I've been working with Kindorf and B Line strut since I started working in construction back in 1980. In electrical work in the city it's used to support almost everything.
