81 911 SC -> 95 3.6 vram swap track / hot rod build.- help

Hey Everyone.

Over the Past few years I have gone from a stock 911 sc to a bit of a weekend hot rod / light DE car.
We were able to do a full elephant racing suspension setup and loose around 300lbs, the car has been incredibly fun on the track and a total riot during the weekends and longer road trips (a few Porsche parades)
the only issue was the strait line speed, the car is awesome in the corners, but ever strait we would get passed by the newer cars. a few months ago I was able to bite the bullet on a 95 vram engine with 39K miles.

I wanted to make this thread to show some progress, but also get a bit of help with the engine swap. here are a few pictures and a few questions

and of course, the new engine

Your cars going to be an absolute blast. I actually thought these swaps wouldn't be done as much anymore due to the cost increases on those motors. Super jealous, keep us updated

I assume that the motor is a US '96-98 w/ OBD2 and SAI

That is a vent to the oil tank

When I did mine I used a RoW '97 OBD1 motor w/o SAI
here is what that area looks like on mine w/o SAI

Looks great, but I have a question. Why did you change the intake to a nonvram?

Thanks, yeah the engines are far from cheap, in fact the engine cost more than the car was worth 5 years ago. I looked into building my 3.0 to 250rwhp or so and the 3.6 just came out better in nearly every way.

thank you for the info- ill trace the lines this weekend, they may be a bit different than stock as I'm not using everything, but I should be able to figure something out

toddu
the exhaust is a stock997 gt3rs exhaust I will have mated to s-car-go race headers, the goal is to have an electronic cut off to have two different exhaust paths= one street one track

this engine is a 95 with vram conversion. I like the idea of obd1 for its simplicity-
thank you so much for the pictures! you are the man! so the two big lines vent to the oil tank? if so, do you know why? it seems like it would be more of a risk for oik to go into the intake if over filled vs a filter on the oil tank- or maybe I'm seeing this wrong.

0396 the engine was converted to v-ram, not removed.

Here is the oil system, the dashed lines are the ones you asked about.

Yes, overfilling is a no no!

RE^^^^

does the stock 81 oil tank have connectors for these? I don't remember taking any air lines off the oil tank= but I did remove the engine a while ago so my memory may not be spot on.
thank you again for the help!

yep, the breathers are the same for '74-89 911, you will probably wan to change the other oil lines to this configurations too.

Here's what my '76 C3 w/ 993 looks like from below, '74 oil lines, B&B headers custom ordered w/ 964 heat inlet and 911 heat outlets, 964 heat crossover, Flowmaster muffler

I also did a 3.6 conversion on an 80SC.
Did the following for reliability and safety reasons:
Mounted the coils on the left side engine compartment to reduce vibe
Also placed a "Puke Tank" in the left rear wheel well for no oil fumes emissions into hot engine compartment .
Upgrade of ALL the 35 yr old oil lines, fuel lines to optimally sized, SS jacketed AN type hoses with a stock 964 Porsche fuel filter.
Modification of the throttle linkage to achieve WFOT was last item

I'm excited this build is semi-local, hope to see the beast at some point in the future (though it may be an expensive meeting for me)!

By the way, you can nicely hide the vacuum reservoirs under the intake.

Im liking your exhaust plans, been tempted to do the same.
