2.0 E to 2.7 RS - what will exchange to new long block?

Heading for my first major horsepower upgrade and need some advice. I bought a 2.7 RS clone longblock from a fellow in Oregon and I am exchanging my long block and MFI. I get to keep all of the bits that will exchange and he has a stash of extra parts that I can dip into if necessary. At this point, I am planning on using everything off of my engine except the MFI (bought S stuff) and the distributor. Will the alternator, fan, fan shroud, oil cooler and other parts exchange readily? Are there parts I absolutely should replace with new, such as the oil cooler? (I am mounting an external cooler of course).

Thanks,

I think you'll be fine just switching longblocks,MFI and dizzy. My 2.0T block and 2.4T block are VERY similar.

Is the new block coming with a engine oil cooler?

If I remember right they didn't switch sizes of fans and alternator until later than 73 so you should be fine there.

You will have to match up senders to gauges so you may need to use your old oil pressure sender and oil temp sender.

I'm not sure about mating your tranny to the engine. I know it's possible but I'm not sure if you'll need a new flywheel or what parts you'll need. Your 69 has a 901 tranny and the RS was built for the 915

Everything should bolt right up to the 2.7 from the 2.0. Tim is right about the oil senders. The current oil cooler will be fine. Just make sure to clean it for optimum airflow. That will be easy with it off the car.

You will have to use the clutch, flywheel, and PP from the 2.0 to make sure the 901 works.

That will be a great car when its finished.
