MFI pump storage oil
What oil should I use to store my MFI pump?

Storage — pumps which have been removed for the car should be flushed and sealed prior to storage. Kerosene is suitable for flushing out the pump and regulator housing. Pour in through the fuel and oil inlets while rotating the drive shaft (cam) clockwise and turning upside down. You may also remove the side cover and governor cover to add more kerosene. Wipe down housing with a clean lint-free cloth when finished. The pump and governor must now be treated with calibration fluid in order to preserve the delicate internal parts. Calibration fluid (eg. Bosch # 5 701 301 725 or equivalent) is only available from specialist fuel injection shops and is expensive. About 1/2 litre should be sufficient. Repeat the sequence as per the kerosene cleaning and drain well. Replace all covers and ensure a coating of calibration fluid remains on the outer casing as well. All hose and fuel line vents should be plugged (plugs available from fuel injection shops) and the pump stored in a sealed plastic bag in a moist free environment at room temperature. Well that's one way to handle the pump storage. A bit of an over kill. KISS, fill the pump with 30w oil and fill the fuel head with Marvel Mystery Oil. Put it in a plastic bag, rotate the pulley every couple of months.

The fuel head is the top part of the pump where the fuel inlet/return ports are and the pressure valves/metal fuel lines attach on top of the pump.

I would always defer to Mark, but I actually go one step further in "simplicity". I just pour a bunch of Marvel Mystery oil in them, spin the pulley a bunch as I flip the pump around upside down a few times, and call it good. I've had a couple of pumps on the shelf for ten years stored like this which, when installed on their respective motors, ran with no issues whatsoever.

MMO is also a good thing to squirt into cylinders when storing an engine. Keeps the rings from sticking. I have a suspicion it is mostly ATF.
