Paint Code Question
So car color is platinum metallic. A color offered for the 911 Carrera in 1984. However the stamp/label then shows a code which implies the color was customized. Perhaps altering it slightly for a more bespoke appearance.
Is that what the L999 may mean after the L655? Or the 9 and 3 in second badge? TIAhttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1711115529.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1711115529.jpg |
I believe it means paint to sample.

Hi IU89- It appears (VIN = WP0E) that your '84 is a convertible. Did it come from the factory with a top color other than Black?
Also- '9' in your code refers to the place of paint application, which is the Porsche Factory and '3' is for Herberts paint. Hope this helps! |
Yes, L999 on the white factory spec label means it was a Paint To Sample option.
The color chosen for PTS is 655 so there’s no question when it comes time for matching the shade. As stated the 9 and 3 refers to paint type and paint mfg. Those labels often fall off, torn off, disappear over time - do the next steward a favor…write them down in the owners manual if there isn’t another label already inside the manual ! |
