Filling tranny with fluid

Not sure if this link works...
But genius level idea.
Makes filling the tranny pretty easy.

Very cool! Swepco is pretty thick... maybe if you leave the container out in the sun for an hour or two, it'd behave like that.

I've used a simple hand pump. It sucks, a friend makes it easier, but it's doable!

Nah, that's not real life. Using compressed air iattached to a water bottle? I guarantee you will end up making a mess. Instead, I use an old style pump oil can, and the rest of the time it sits on my workbench getting used as... wait for it... An oil can. Gear oil is a pretty good general purpose oil lube. When building an engine, I use the same gear oil can for assembly lube (but not for break in cam lube). One can for multiple uses reduces clutter on the workbench.

I do it on my back under jack stands with a cheap Harbor Freight pump that shoots the hoses off when pumped hard and knocking over bottles with my elbows squirming around on the ground cussing and the garage smelling like gear oil for a couple months.

I do it Ivan's way. And I put the gear oil in a bucket of hot water beforehand. The oil doesn't have to be that hot to pour easily.

Did a Mercedes rear end last night. No trouble at all, unless your assistant doesn't measure well and overfills....

I just use one of those cheap hand pumps that goes on a qt bottle. Not fun but works. Cordless grease gun......now thats the bomb, and makes greasing fun. Dewalt needs to make a cordless gear oil pump!

Yup, that's the way I do it. No need to get too fancy, it's only oil.

Gravity is your friend (plus a ladder):

I've used that method but with a big bottle and made proper fittings with a tube that slides over the air gun nozzle. Gravity works but it's fun to make tools.

Hand pump. Simple and you can do it under the transaxle. You can control the flow in until it's just seeping out the of the top hole.

This is actually the procedure from the factory service manual.

Yep,
Did mine in a similar way recently!
Have to say, going on the title of this thread, I was half expecting to see a man in a dress drinking a pint!

They put the fluid in a plastic bottle with a hole in the cap that the hose fit tightly and to the bottom of the jug. Then stuck an air blow gun in another small hole and pressurized it to blow the fluid up the hose
