For fathers day I ordered a factory short sift kit the one that is option M-241(I think) he has a 1970 911t with a 915 tranny. Today we tried to install it with the instructions from pelican parts lititure. Upon doing so we realized that after diassembling the stock one that the internals look nothing like the ons in the article. Is the an adapter so we can use this shifter?? or do we hav to use another kit?
thanks in advance for any comments or help... ![]() ![]() ![]() |

The gearbox that comes from the factory in 1970 is a type 901 transaxle which also uses a type 901 shift housing. The M241 factory short shift kit will only fit 915 shift housings ('72-'86). I believe Weltmeister makes something for your shift housing.
BTW, with a 901 gearbox, you can install a 915 shift housing (and factory short shifter) and it will all work in your car. To see how, go here. Sherwood Lee http://members.rennlist.org/911pcars www.seinesystems.com 915 shift housing in '70 911S ![]() |

Since you asked on this forum, I'll direct you to Pelican's site to purchase it (but it's either source). The 901-specific information can be downloaded from the Seine Systems site.
