Sheared Clevis on Clutch Cable

I have heard of the pin in the clip shearing off…but in this case, one leg of the clevis sheared right off!!

Luckily I was leaving a stop light on a day with almost no traffic. SNAP, damn clutch pedal hits the floor. I then had to push her off to the side of the road and fetch a tow home.

I’ll have to say, this failure could have been a real problem had I been in the canyons or whatever!

Good time to learn the lost art of driving without a clutch. Saves a tow.

Great point! My clutchless shifting skills are low so I didn’t want to risk it…. It was within the free tow zone for AAA so that helped!

It’s the downshift that hurts

if that snapped off i would make sure everything is okay with clutch and cable mechanism, does your clutch feel particularly heavy? Guss parts eventually stress out and fail , but i would be doing lots of checking before just throwing on another pin.

I had my clutch cable snap once about 3 miles from my house... just called a flatbed as i had CAA. not driving without a clutch in a non emergency. tows are cheap, gears are expensive.
