Battery fuel pump question…
I don’t recall seeing this being asked. Maybe dumb question but engine is out of car and may want to run fuel pump to drain fuel. If I hook the battery up and follow instructions in Bentley will pump run? Wasn’t sure if engine electronics being out of loop makes difference.

Just open the rubber hose on the tank feed under the steering skid plate between the front wheels.

Carrera 3.2 Fuel Tank Draining………..
You could simply drain the Carrera 3.2 gas tank by simply letting the fuel drain through the return fuel line fitting at the gas tank. Loosening it slowly until it starts to drip. Make sure you have enough containers to collect the dripping fuel.
Or use the fuel pump to deliver the fuel out. Reconnect the battery and bridge fuse #5 and fuse #6 (counting from the windshield). No need to turn ON the ignition switch. You just need a good battery and bridge fuses #5 & #6. Tony |

Thanks, I did drain it from under the tank a few years ago to replace short line to the pump, but it was cramped and seemed to get pretty messy. Maybe I just didn't do it right, LOL! I'd seen a post about someone just draining the tank by running the pump and it seemed like a slick way to do it.

Another Method………….
Quote:
Buck, If you need to drain the fuel tank and do an inspection of the interior, this method would be your choice. Use a battery operated syphon pump and get the fuel out from the top of the gas tank. You will need to remove the fuel level sender gauge/cover and will be able to do a very good visual inspection of the gas tank interior. An endoscope camera is an optional tool to have for the inspection. Tony |

Unplanned, car was left parked with almost a full tank of E10 for a couple of years. Drained most with an $8 Flea Bay jiggle siphon (from the tank filler) into jerrycans.
Which left about 1/2" or so in the bottom of the tank by the time you couldn't start the siphon anymore. Took out the fuel sender and used a $10 HF stirrup pump to get the remainder out. This also allowed for a good visual inspection of the inside (surprisingly clean/good condition). The fuel still smelt/looked good, no phase separation whatsoever. Put half a jerrycan per tank of new premium into the Taco until it was gone, and it didn't miss a beat. YMMV...

Cheap fuel pump on the way from largest river in the world. Will take a look at the tank while I have the fuel send out (just got a new endoscope and it's shocking how clear this pics are for something so cheap). I have newly refreshed injectors and want to make sure the first fuel they see is clean an fresh...thanks for all the suggestions.
