Quick tire question
7 and 8 x16 inch Fuchs. Some people run 205's and 225's (same size tire as the OEM 6s and 7s) and some run larger tires front and rear.
Why would someone run the OEM size tires on winder wheels? How big a tire can you fit in the rear without rubbing on an 8? Is there something Im missing?

If you really want to save money, you can mount your old tires (from the 6's and 7's) to your new wheels. This would explain the narrower than expected tires on the 7's and 8's.
There is no performance advantage.

same size tires on wider rims will reduce the slip angle of the tire creating better handling (somewhat generalized and summarized from Fred Puhn's How to Make Your Car Handle) The factory did this by using 7's on the front of turbo's, but using the same size tires that the non-turbo's use on 6's. The cars have a good balance of handling with 205 and 225, if you go to 205 and 245 unless you have added more weight or a bunch more power will cause more understeer.
