RUF Bumper Grill Options
Hi,
I have a replica fiberglass RUF "Yellow Bird" style bumper on my 87. I am looking to add a grill to the center section. It appears on the real RUF version there was a integrated piece that included the grill and fog light brackets. Does anyone make a grill for the center section that will fit the reproduction bumpers? I have reached out to a couple of suppliers but they only make grills that fit the square RS style openings. Or if there isn't a premade one, any pics of grills that you have made/modified to fit? |

D'you have the under-bumper valence, or the bumper cap? Source of the bumper cap probably has a bearing, too (as they all seem to be slightly different)...
With the bumper cap, most just seem to cut down a decklid grille to suit, as per Bill V's car in Ultimate RUF Conversion Thread: ![]() Last time I peered intently at my bumper cap with a view to doing this, the FMOC (and particularly oil line routing) was in the way. So I've still got the mesh the PO used, which looks a little "meh" but o well... I would have to look at my Ruf valance to be certain, but pretty sure the grille they supplied was also a cut-down factory item. HTH.

I have the bumper cap. Not sure of the brand as it came on the car but their is no mounting tabs or other brackets near that center section.
Great thread with some good ideas. Mine had the mesh but it came loose and I have been running with nothing for a while, but just changed out my fog light lens so want to spruce it up and really like the look of the grill on Bill's car Is this the grill that people are modifying? https://www.pelicanparts.com/More_Info/91155941101HBT.htm?pn=911-559-411-01-HBT If so any pictures of how it needs to be modified and how to mount it to the bumper would be very helpful |

It made both the center and 2 side foglihght grills You are also correct that the oe valance had a separate inner part that held the oil cooler and fogs, but the cover, to my knowledge, did not There was also a separate rubber chin used on the cover but not the valance ![]() ![]()

Thanks Bill.
Do you remember what modifications were required? I am assuming it can be trimmed to fit with a dremel. Did you have to fiberglass in mounting brackets or how did you attach it? |
