1974 911 dash trim removalquestions
Cleaning up the dash in my 74 911, have questions about the removal of two trim pieces.
1 - does the heater/fan faceplate come off separately from the whole unit? Seems as if it should but have been doing some light prying and it doesn’t seem to come off. Don’t want to break it. 2 - similar question about the small side defroster/ac vents on each end of the dash panel. Can get them to move but not release. Your help is greatly appreciated.

rrichar.
I can't say about 74 faceplate trim but in 72 it does come off. Just be super careful it is delicate. The faceplate has tabs, so a thin wide blade carefully slipped between the back of the trim and the face of the unit will be needed. I rocked it side to side to get it to seperate.

Thank you both for your replies. Took out the 10mm bolt holding the unit to the car to get a better look. Mine is like Eastbay’s there are two rivets that hold it to the control unit. Glad I didn’t break it while trying to get it to pop off. Just felt it couldn’t be on that tight unless there was something I couldn’t see. Trouble avoided.
