Bylund Automotive wideband review

System is Arduino-based using UNO, Bylund shield, Bosch 4.9 sensor and picking up sketch code from online. Display is OLED purchased separately.

Here’s what was supplied in my experience:
  • No order confirmation
  • No receipt of sale
  • No wiring diagram / installation guide
  • No owner’s / op manual
  • Very nice packaging holding Bylund's shield
  • Product shown in Bylund vid is not the same as product shipped - Shield in video has pin headers. Shields received have no pin headers so connections to power, ground, display and clocking need to be soldered.

Red flags I missed (because I wanted this system to work):
  • In every Bylund vid, comments are blocked - Bylund prevents all possible public commentary.
  • No Bylund users to be found online as of my search on 10.10.24. There is now.
  • For support... register online, post question in forum, wait for response from Christian Bylund. Forum is an empty shell.

After weeks of testing & troubleshooting… System does no more than turn on and soon freeze. I made the mistake of bench testing and seeing system turn on & display data and thought it worked. Mistake = I didn't bench deeply enough. Bought into a second unit to set up a dual system. After setting everything up and taking it on the road, the freeze was apparent—I missed that freeze during benching. To see if memory was an issue, I reduced the font and indeed memory proved to be faulty. Not in one but both units.

Having 2 Arduinos already running reliably in my 911, this Arduino stuff is not unfamiliar to me. Wanting Bylund's system to work, I was not lazy about seeking to make that happen.

Given relentless testing, all events as evidence put together---particularly Bylund blocking public comments to all his videos---and bottom line the system not working, Bylund seems a well oiled scam. If not a genuine scam, it could be called something else but that would not change reality.

Thanks for the warning.

I've been doing a "desktop design" of an EFI system for my car. The CIS keeps working so I haven't starting assembling parts yet. I've been looking at 14point7.com and their Spartan wideband controllers - those seem to get good reviews. I haven't used one yet.

Jim... hope all is more than well with you. Welcome on the warning.

Am working with an Innovate LC-2 system now. Sorting out a gasket challenge with the clamp on bung I got for the 456 side of exhaust. (123 side bung was preinstalled by SSI.) Aside from that the system is working. Using LogWorks on laptop to look at data.

Zada Tech has a wideband with that uses OLED display. If I want to go with a display, that's the direction I plan on. The USA rep for Zada is a PPF member. Great guy. Joe. As I know it, Zada's display does connect to Innovate's LC-2.
