Is the grille in tail removable?
I have a 83 SC with a factory "Tea Tray" tail on the back. Is the grille removable on this. The car has been repainted and I cannot tell if the grille is removable or it is just a paint line. If I decide to repaint what is the dark grey/black color that matches up best to the factory grille color. This was never painted.
In advance my many thanks for your help.

There are two grills, or better yet one permanent grill and a screen. The permanent one is part of the wing, seen from the outside of the car. The removable grill or screen is between the permanent grill and the A/C condenser. This is often not installed when a wing is installed after-the-fact.
I think what you are calling a paint line is an impression from the mold.

thanks Rick, My car has been repainted but the grille area wasn't done. It is actually a dark grey and the car is black. I was just trying to find the easiest way to repaint this without removing the wing. but to get to the inner removable grille you have to remove the wing I think. Also if anyone has any paint suggestions it will be greatly appreciated.

The tail came two ways from the factory. Either totally painted the car color or with the center grill section painted (or "windowed") a contrasting matte black or it may be dark dark grey (?). I think this would be dependent on year.

My 88 has the "grill part" painted black. I originally thought it was a separate section but it's just a faint line where the flat black paint ends and the unerlying guards red starts. I'd like to find something to spruce the black paint up but nothing seems to work.
