1978 911 Carrera Coupe???

Hello,

I just received my Porsche Production Specifications Certificate. Under Model Year/Type is has “1978 911 Carrera Coupe”. It is a ROW car originally purchased in Germany. This should read 911SC should it not? Is this simply an error or is there such think as a 1978 911 Carrera Coupe?

Thanks

Correct

there were Carrera models from '73 to '77 and then again all 911s were Carrera from '84 to '89

'78 to '83 all 911 were SC

I had the opposite of sorts.
I called Porsche Classic (1.800.PORSCHE) to inquire about a replacement for a damaged PPS.
When they looked up my VIN to confirm, they read out the info…1977 911 SC was on their records, not S Coupe which was correct on the PPS.
Obviously a mistake which they corrected. Probably a drop-down list entry error.
But for getting a new PPS, one or a hundred….just pay the appropriate fee for each.

I'm not that guy - but some guy may chime in and say that SC stood for "Super Carrera" . . . .
Fact remains that for the Classic Certificate it truly does seem to be a drop-down error as stated above as I know for a fact that "911 SC Coupe" is an available option.

As a data point: my '78 SC (built in Sept '77) says "1978 911 SC Coupe" on the CoA.

A car built in September of 1977 is a 1978 model year car.

I received word back from Porsche that it was an error and they will be sending me a replacement. Doesn’t build a lot of confidence that the rest of the information is correct.

Not sure anyone is disputing that “911 SC Coupe” is an option. Why wouldn’t it be?
The point a previous poster is making is that there is no such 1977 911 SC.

Posting a VIN would clear it all up
