3.6 conversion fiberglass tins

The (fiberglass) tins I have don’t have a mark for where to cut for the lower spark plug wire grommet. Or the gauge grommet in the rear of the engine.

Does anyone have the size of these oval grommets on paper so it can be used as template for cutout?

This is the piece I was talking about, was able to measure and make the hole.
Would be nice if it came with a stickers where all the holes need to be cut…

Considering I had to trim up the front section, it may have been easier to modify original tins (I don’t think the cost of these tins was worth it).

I used Sheridan on mine, available in black or raw, they are designed specifically for a 3.6 in a 911 chassis, use w/ 3.2 console and regular 911 crossbar. For most purposes way better than using the 3.6 tin and console and3.6 crossbar, wish I had known about this 230yrs ago when I did my first 3.6 t/p, of course back then the 3.2 consoles were still in prototype form at the factory.

marking the holes isn't a big deal just place the steel versions that are removed on top of the f/g versions, voila

Bill - Where does the piece with the check mark go?

I got the kit in clear, will need to look up where, it was a while ago.
I modified the 3.6 engine bar (I didn’t want to pay what they’re getting for the 3.2 console these days).

Here's the stock 964 tin I started w/ way back when, used i on 964 and 993 engines

The problem is the tin is so deep it holds the engine down and spacers are required at the motor mounts

this causes issues w/ the exhaust hanging low, which can be a real nightmare

If I recall correctly the piece you asked about covers the left rear seen here naked

I agree that it's a sellers market for the 3.2 consoles but it's well worth it to keep looking an alternative is to make you own tins w/ less depth to them I believe that RSwannabe did that and kept the 3.6 cross bar and console, but I could be wrong about that too.

Here's the Sheridan f/g raw showing back pieces

This install uses the Sheridan w/ stock 3.6 crossbar and console, seems to work fine, I'm unsure if he had to use spacers but think not
