I need Help Identifying my Engine-Have #!!
Hello,
The number on the passenger side base of the Fan Housing is as Follows: 6120708 There is a scratch before the 6 that might be a number... Anyway I have the restorer's guide to 911 + 912, but it is lost in the bottomless pit of the bookshelf... I will keep digging but if someone has the book handy, by all means I would be glad for the timesaver!! Thanks In Advance, Ron

Real Fast!!
Hello,
Well I was told it was a 71 "t"...The car is a 73 T and the engine was swapped for an engine out of a wrecked vehicle... Anyway I finally got the Carbs adjusted by ear!! Then we found out the timing was advanced to about 38 degrees BTDC.. Fixed the Timing to 30 Degrees and now it runs nicely except the carbs are out of wack... Anyway it has a Timing Sticker for E & S on the fan housing so that is what I used... The carbs need a good tuning-with a synchrometer!!-but this car is still Fast!! I have an 86 944 in excellent running order and this 911 is quite a bit faster!! My father drove the vehicle and proclaims it to be much stonger than his 02 Miata... I am guessing Engine work was done, becuase it feels awfully strong and why would someone replace a 73 T engine with another 72 T Engine with Carbs, I have records of the pulled engine being sold for around 2k, so I doubt it was Blown!! Anyway thanks for the help... I think it is probably a 2.4 T engine with E Pistons and Cams, becuase it is quite powerful from around 3+ Rpms, unlike an S...It spins up to around 8K rpms also...
