Valve stems for early "tube" wheels?

I went to have tires mounted on my newly refinished wheels but I'm having problems finding valve stems that fit.
The wheels are the early forged type that originally had tubes (901.361.012.06). Al Reed has 'em or knows where to get them but I won't be able to reach him until Tuesday.

Thanks for any info.

When I was at a friend's shop mounting tires on my early Fuchs we were a little stumped too. Then my friend said, "It probably takes a fatty" That must be a technical term in the industry. I looked closely at the ones that work and they are quite big in dia at the part where they go through the hole. They bear the part number TR-415. If you ask for these at any tire shop, they should have them.

Confirm TR415.....have several sets of early deep 6's...and that's what everyone has told me is the one to run (and that everyone else is running as well....)

I would wait to talk with Al Reed or Harvey Wiedman. For the deep dish 6x15 and 911R 7x15 wheels, you need a gradually tapering all rubber valve stem to fit the slanted hole, not the metal ones or the stubby "fat" ones, (which will work on the earlier and later Fuchs).

I ran into this problem today....shop has the TR415 "fatties" but says that the rim thickness would prevent these from sealing correctly.

Any other suggestions?

I ened up at my local Discount Tire. The Manager at the branch I go to is very knowledgable about Porsches and BMWs and knew exactly what I needed. They were even nice about mounting my tires which I purchased from TireRack. You could try calling "Jerry" who is the Manager and I'm sure he'd give you a part #.

Good Luck!
