My 911 konked out just as I was pulling into a gas station 2 months after I bought it. The gauge showed 1/4 tank, so I didn't think to fill it and try to start it again. Instead, I paid $100 to have it towed back to my rented house, spent a month replacing the fuel pump and diagnosing ignition faults (there were none, but the CDI box needed refreshing), and otherwise scratching my head until the CDI box repair technician suggested filling it with gas. It burst to life immediately.
