Window not winding up
Before I start digging into the door... 72 Targa, manual wind windows - winding the window 'up' works fine until it gets a couple of inches from closing - then the winder seems to slip with a 'clunk' type noise, and the window will not raise any further.
Bad regulator or repairable in any way? Many thanks |

That’s going to be opened up and looked at….eventually.
For starters remove just the handle and make sure all the splines are intact, rare but the handle can eventually fail or crack causing the barrel to separate and slip under tension. - Try simulating the operate with window about 2” exposed and hold it down to prevent upward travel while cranking handle up to see if it will “clunk” (slip) with just 2” of window exposed. - Try and assist the window up with hand/palm while turning the crank and see if window channel felts are obstructed. Don’t force it. If that’s ok, you’ll need to remove the door card and inspect the operation and see what’s bolted and what’s riveted or stamped that may have broken off. I don’t recall the regulator mechanism assembly gearing but seems it maybe was forced off the main 1/2 gear close or midway up resulting in stopping going up fully. |

Forgot, check the bottom of your door see if anything is floating around in there that’s usually where the broken pivot ends up.
