911SC - Clutch Pedal Height
Hi guys, I recently replaced my clutch cable and rebuilt my pedal cluster with new bushings, springs, and a clutch arm. I adjusted the cable per procedure, but one area I found differing opinions on was keeping the pedal wedged “up” while completing the cable adjustment (in my case, I did).
All seems well with engagement, measurements double checked, etc., except my pedal is now much more perpendicular to the floor than it was previously and essentially at the same level as the brake pedal. From reading other posts, it seems this is the correct orientation, but is there one right way, or is there any way to get the pedal back to a more natural position for a resting foot (more parallel to the floor). Separately, the pedal seems a bit stiffer. I assume that’s somewhat normal with a new return spring replacing one that’s 160k miles/40 years old, but any similar experience? |

Here are some pictures of the cable adjustment, the cluster, and the pedal height. Just wondering if the pedal height is normal. I can definitely depress it a bit without engagement, but I'm nearly positive that it rested a bit closer to the floor previously.
I did do the cable adjustment with the pedal propped up. Some procedures said to let the cable rest after hooking on the clutch arm, others said to leave it propped up. I first tried adjusting without it propped up, but because in typical fashion, got directions reversed laying on my back under the car and was turning the nuts the wrong direction and not getting any gap closure. After reading a few more write-ups, I decided to try the final adjustment with the pedal propped up AND (more importantly) turning the nuts in the right direction. Just wondering (1) if the pedal height is normal, and (2), if I should start over with the adjustment and do it without the pedal propped up. Thanks! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

to adjust the pedal hook it to the arm and pull back with a screwdriver after install the little finger and spring .Leave some play between the finger and big arm.Adjust the tension the way you want it and after adjust the play.
The way i do it is for long legs ..once you are adjusting the cable and seeing the Omega spring moved,i turn back the 15mm nut to release a little tension. This way the clutch will release more to the bottom of the pedal cluster. For short legs person i leave the tension alone as soon the omega spring moves. If your pedals are not aligned you can readjust the brake pedal with the bar adjustment.. Ivan
