Has anyone dropped a 951 or 968 motor into a 911?
Just curious...
![]() FYI: I'm not looking to do it, like I stated above, I'm just curious, people have done stranger things...

Not bloody likely.
Why would anyone put a 4-cyl watercooled engine that's laid out completely wrong (for the car) into a car designed for a boxer-style engine?

Well i've never dropped one into a 911, but i did drop one in my garage, wasn't pretty. LOL, it's not worth it, too big of displacement per cylinder. Make's good torque though.

BTW, with few exceptions, that question is probably going to piss some people off if you haven't noticed already.

But why? Might as well ask if a D-type Jag motor will fit.

Well, it's better to be pissed off than pissed on.
If someone gets uppity over that question, then there's something uppity their butt. You should, however, expect quite a few snyde responses. |

OK, how about putting a 928s4 motor in a 911? Kind of like the chevy V8 thing but more like a Porsche on steroids.....
Kelly Moss has a 928 in a 944 gtu car....

Personally I would rather see a 951 motor in a 911 than a SBC, but that's another story.

What would be the point? The NA 911 makes more power than the NA 944, the turbo 930 makes more power than the turbo 951.

It seams to me that for somebody to go through the trouble , time, engineering and expense to do an engine swap, they would want to improve the car. Not go backwards.
But hey. That's just me. But really, who else's opinion matters? |

Lets flip this around. Has anyone every put a 3.6 in a 944? Or better yet a 3.3 turbo in a 951? That should piss off the 944 crew.

Actually it doesn't piss me off cause i've thought of it before. But after considering the money it would take, i bought the SC.

BTW, i understand the insult of this post (and the ignorance), but to try and degrade the integrity of either the 51 or 44 isn't right. It's one thing to dislike other manufacturers but to degrade something that spawned from the tech of our flat six monsters is plainly wrong. You might as well talk smack about the 356 just because it's a small engine that's a dog on power or the 914/4 because it's a VW hybrid. You guys may not like water cooling but i like both water and air, but i do hate poor sports car engineering (which is why i dislike other manufacturers).
