rare early 911 wheels?

Can anybody tell me anything about these?
I think I remember seeing a similar pair on an early Italian bodied 911 show car one-off.

Thanks

'Scuse me for laughing here.."rare" is relative. So is "desireable".

Yep, those were on the Bertone Porsche. Funny thing is I've seen that same car with stock chrome wheels, gasburners and fuchs.

Oh, and how many wheels have their own website?

Wow - didn't know about the web site. They look pretty nice with the black paint.

Now, why can't somebody make a wheel out of Ti?

certainly not rare..

but do you have all four or five of them? Which size are they? Do they all have the same date stamp? Are they for sale? If so how much?

Shawn.

As stated above, they're 5-stud Mahle 'Gasburners' (as opposed to the far more common 4-stud version used on 914's).

They are Magnesium & were only available in 5.5 x 15" - the lightest wheels ever fitted to a 911.

They were originally offered as an option on 1969-'72 911T's & are now highly prized - especially amongst the VW fraternity.

my question was clearly...

do you have four (wheels) or all five (wheels) of them.

That should indicate are they a set of 4 (four) items. Or are they a set of 5 (five) items. Must be a continental language problem.

Thanks again for the info everybody.

I have to go back and look to see how many there are. They may end up for sale. I happend upon an old rusty 911 in the weeds near a remote country road. It is sitting about 30 yards from the remains of aburned down house. It is rusty as hell, but to my surprise the entire engine is in the car.
i want to go back and get the engine i.d. number. I did see it was last regitered in '83

I would be interested in buying any of them that you can save. Being magnesium, they are pretty fragile. If you can get them, let me know. Thanks

I belive the Mahle's are, indeed, now considered rare ... because most were unofficially recalled and replaced with Fuchs because of magnesium corrosion problems due to winter salt usage on roads in the USA ... don't know if it was a worldwide policy to replace them or not.
