is it possible to have zeniths work right?

I have zenith's on a 71T. I have never read anything good about these carbs. Am I only in for problems especially if I am going to try and get more HP out of this engine?

There's nothing wrong with Zeniths. They're essentially Weber clones. You can ream out the jets and you can make Weber venturi's fit. Our good buddies at Motor Meister sell bigger jets and venturi's for them. I'd be more worried about the original Marelli distributor, unless you've already swapped it out.

Zeniths are fine with a std 2.2t, however they are hard to set up if you change the configuration of your engine.

I was using them on a 2.0 with S pistons and E cam. I found that I could not get parts required for modifying the carbs to the Revs I wanted to use.

Venturies are impossible to get Jets can be redrilled. Gave up on changing emulsion tubes.

While they are a good carby there is not the knowledge or parts that are available for webers.

Go with the webers I gave up after about 6 months of stuffing around with the zeniths.

I put zeniths on my 914-6 with a 2.7. The reason? got them on a trade and needed a set of carbs. I bought a set of venturies from our pals at MM and then drilled the jets properly. Did a few mods as far as removing the enrichment dealy. They work excellent you just have to be patient. Set them up properly with a vacum uni-syn or something close to it and they should work great.
