Need lower plug wire retainers for 74 twin plug hot rod

Hi Guys,
The standard lower plug wire retainers do not work with turbo valve covers.

Does someone make retainers to fit this application???

Is there a better work around than installing longer lower VC studs, with spacers to clear, or bolts, with spacers, for better VC R&R for maintenance??

I'd hate to have one fall off and ignite the dripping oil on the heat exchangers :-)

You need to mill off a bit of the reinforcing rib near the hole for the studs... around 4 o'clock position

An end mill in a drill press accomplishes this easily..

Thanks Tim,
I have a good friend that was a shop teacher. I'll mark out the ribs to get trimmed and pay him a visit.

Thanks Henry

I had no idea that twin plugging would require Turbo valve cover modification.
Since I had Clewit wires i asked him about this and he didn't know of anyone making plug wire retainers for this engine/W/ turbo covers.
On a side note, your "improved" three rib oil pump is working very well.
Thanks, Chris

May not be what you had in mind but these rubber inserts have been on mine for 10 years without a problem. I think they were used on 356 4cyl?

Thanks Steve

If i didn't already have two sets of retainers, i'd give the boots a try.
BTW our host only has 4 left.

If you you use the lower valve covers from a 78-79 SC they are the aluminum version of the earlier flat magnesium ones. That's what I'm using.
